The Spot Peel - How to Use & Expectations

Expectations:

  1. This is a 1-day treatment meant to be left for 8-12 hours.
  2. Peeling can happen in 2-3 days and last up to 7-10 days. Peeling is not necessary to see results from this treatment.
  3. Visible results can take up to 30 days. 
  4. The Spot Peel can be repeated every 3-6 month, depending on the formula.
  5. Consider using The Spot Cream and/or The Anti-Aging Cream between peels, depending on your dermatologist's direction.
  6. If you have a history of oral herpes or cold sores, you may need medication prior to doing The Spot Peel. 
  7. Side effects include peeling, redness, dryness and irritation. For information about how to manage side effects, please use eNurse Check-Ups in the Musely app. 

How to Use

Prepping for treatment: Please stop use of all face treatments (including FaceRx) 3-7 days prior to using The Spot Peel. You should only be using a cleanser, hydrating moisturizer, and sunscreen during this time.

Conduct a patch test! Please conduct a patch test at least a day prior to application of the medication to identify any possible reactions or allergies. 

  • Apply a small amount of the medication to a small area of the face, such as a corner of the jaw or forehead. 
  • Ensure that the area of skin is clean and not injured or irritated. 
  • Leave on for 8-12 hours, then gently wash off. 

If you have severe irritation or discomfort, remove immediately and wash the skin with a gentle cleanser.

Cleanse

  1. Remove makeup and cleanse your face thoroughly.  An astringent or toner can also be used. Allow skin to dry for 2-4 minutes.

Apply The Spot Peel

  1. Apply a thin, even layer of The Spot Peel to the entire face (not for neck), OR as directed by your doctor. Use about 1/4 of the medication at this time.
    • Avoid the eyes, and corners of the mouth and nose.
    • You may experience slight stinging or discomfort for the initial 5-10 minutes.
  2. If you are not experiencing irritation (stinging or burning), you can apply another layer or two about 1-2 hours after the first layer, creating a thick layer of the cream.

Discard remaining medication. Do not save for later use. 

  1. Leave the medication on the skin for 8-12 hours or as instructed by your doctor.

Remove the medication if you feel intense stinging or burning. Do not apply anything on top of The Spot Peel.

  • Don’t: Sweat or get the face wet. 
  • Do: Avoid direct sunlight.
  1. After applying, wash hands to remove any remaining medication.

Moisturize

  1. After 8-12 hours, wipe the medication off with a soft towel. Cleanse face thoroughly with a gentle face wash.
  2. Apply a thick facial moisturizer. Do not pick or peel the skin. We recommend CeraVe Moisturizing Cream or Aquaphor Healing Ointment.

The next morning, cleanse the skin and apply a sunscreen with SPF 30+.

Reapply sunscreen every two hours when spending time outdoors.
